Bangkok
Well after almost 18 hours of travelling we made it to Bangkok. As we walked out of the airport to taxi to our hotel, we were hit with the humid, hot air. It was roughly 38 degrees Celsius and that was the norm here, deffanitly going to take some getting used to.
We then ventured to our hotel Marvin Suites, which was about 45 minutes away from the airport. At first glance I noticed we were probably not in the best location, as there was zero other backpackers and it appeared to be mainly locals. I wasn't dissapointed, actually slightly relieved if be surrounded by actual culture, not just the tourist traps. During our 2 night stay here we struggled with jet lag, barely being able to stay awake past 5 pm and waking up at the peak hours of 430 am.
During our stay in Bangkok, we saw the amazing Grand Palace, with several temples and really got to soak up the culture (at 38°).
We also took a long stroll down the famous khaosan road to check out all the local vendors and the food stalls. It did not dissapoint. They have tons of designer copies, suit Taylor's, and of course elephant pants.
After walking up and down the street several times, we purchased a couple pairs of elephant pants, I got a nice beach sarong and we the stopped for our first traditional Pad Thai. Once again, didn't dissapoint!! The locals know how to make it.
That right there sums up my short time in Bangkok, we will be staying for one night on the way home and I hope to check out the chatuchak night market on our way back.
Next stop, Pattaya Beach
Till next time,
Emily xx
